Transportation Rules

Small Pets

They can travel in the cabin provided they are kept in a container with characteristics specified by the airline (container provided by the passenger). The total weight and dimensions must not exceed the specified limits, and a reservation is required in advance.

Large Pets

Transport is only possible in the hold (pressurized, illuminated, and heated); they must be kept in a suitable container that allows the animal to stand and turn around (container provided by the passenger). Advance booking is mandatory.

It is advisable to check with the airline for details regarding the transportation and the amount of the fee to be paid (it is always required and varies depending on the destination and weight).

In European Union countries, the following may be required:

  • a community passport (issued by the competent veterinary service in the area)
  • rabies vaccination
  • identification microchip or tattoo

For entry into certain countries, such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, and Sweden, there are specific restrictions.

For information, consult government websites, consular offices of individual countries, or refer to specific regulations and community provisions (European Legislation 2004/595/CE and European Legislation 2004/824/CE) in advance.
