Intermodal Hub

The Intermodal Hub attached to Trieste Airport is the new intermodal connection infrastructure of Friuli Venezia Giulia for mobility by air, rail, road, using both public and private means of transportation.

It extends from the straight line represented by the pedestrian aerial walkway, which, after crossing the State Road 14, connects the terminal to the parking lots, the bus station, and the new Trieste Airport train stop on the Trieste – Venice line.

Completed works

Since March 19, 2018, Trieste Airport has undergone a complete transformation, integrating a new stop on the national railway network connected to the airport by an elevated walkway. The interventions have also allowed for the completion of the new intermodal infrastructure of Friuli Venezia Giulia with a bus station, a multi-storey car park, and a new outdoor parking lot, as well as the renovation of various areas of the terminal.

The project

The Intermodal Hub project, inaugurated on March 19, 2018, is one of the most important objectives outlined by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in its regional transport plan. It represents the desire to create a strategic point that integrates air transport, railway transport, and local public transport.
